When Hiroshi Kitamura left his native Japan in his early twenties, he began a journey that has since taken him around the world, and earned him an international reputation as a leading Beverly Hills hair stylist, entrepreneur, author and lecturer.
Hiroshi spent his first year traveling throughout the Untied States to assess his prospects. He finally settled in Beverly Hills where he became a staff member of the Vidal Sassoon Salon.
As a result of Hiroshi’s strong entrepreneurial spirit, by his 30th birthday he opened his own salon on Canon Drive in Beverly Hills. The Hiroshi Hair Design Salon enjoys not only the talent and skills of its head designer/owner, but a professional staff of designers and stylist as well.
Now when Hiroshi is away from his salon, he travels around the country and to Europe and Asia, demonstrating his talents at shows for other hair designers or serving as a judge in stylist competitions.
At the core of Hiroshi’s work ethic is his strong Buddhist faith, which has given him a philosphy that he brings to everything he does. “Inner beauty. That is as important as external appearance,” Hiroshi stresses. “When I am working on a client, I try to see the whole person, not just the face. And I try to instill that attitude in my staff.”
An example of Hiroshi’s belief is set forth in his book, “While the Others Are Sleeping.” Written in 1988, this book serves not only as a textbook for young stylists learning their craft, but also as a source for inner personal growth and development.
During his career as a hairstylist, Hiroshi has appeared in over 1,000 hair shows. He has been all over Europe demonstrating his craft and educating hair stylists, and is now focusing on Asia to implement and develop stronger hair education programs.
